This itinerary is designed for visitors who want to experience it all during the winter in Jackson, Wyoming. If you have come here to ski, and only to ski, this is not the itinerary for you. Skiers and boarders can pick from three nearby ski resorts (Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, Grand Targhee Resort, and Snow King Resort). Find more info on Jackson Ski Resorts. Reservations

  • Lodging - Book lodging well in advance, especially if you plan to visit Jackson around the holidays or over President's Day Weekend. Browse through Jackson Lodging Options.
  • Transportation - Car Rentals are available at the airport and in town. There is a town shuttle which offers free transportation throughout town on a regular basis and to/from Teton Village for $3.

Full Day Suggestions

Ski Jackson Hole

Spend an entire day skiing the world renowned steeps and deeps at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort a.k.a. The Village. Half day, full day, and multi day lift tickets, as well as ski and snowboard rentals and lessons are available. The START bus offers transportation to/from Teton Village and downtown Jackson for $3 each way. Apres Ski at the Mangy Moose, right at the base of the resort.

Ski Grand Targhee

Head over the hill to the quiet side of the Tetons for a day of skiing at Grand Targhee, known for epic amounts of powder and its family friendly atmosphere. The skiing here is mellower than Jackson Hole, but offers great terrain for all level skiers and boarders.

Togwotee Snowmobiling

Take a day off from skiing and head to Togwotee Pass, just northeast of Jackson, to partake in a full day of snowmobiling. Rent your own sled or join a guided trip.

Elk Refuge Sleigh Rides

Take a Sleigh Ride through the National Elk Refuge. You'll be nestled under warm blankets on the back of a horse drawn sleigh, coming within feet of tons of wintering elk.

Cross Country Ski or Snowshoe in Grand Teton National Park

This is a great activity for a sunny day so that you can enjoy views of the Tetons. Rent some cross-country skis or snowshoes at one of the many Rental Shops in town and then head up to the park to discover a number of winter trails below the Grand Tetons (GTNP's Cross Country Skiing Brochure). GTNP offers free guided snowshoeing tours from mid-December to the end of March (Call 307-739-3399 for reservations). Alternatively, you can book a snowshoe or cross-country tour with a local outfitter.

Spend the late afternoon or early evening snow tubing at Snow King Mountain.
