WinterFest
This week-long series of events takes place in late January and early February. Events take place around town and include:
- Stage Stop Sled Dog Race: This 9-day sled dog race takes place in stages, starting along Jackson Town Square on day 1, traveling around western Wyoming, and finishing in Teton Valley, Idaho.
- Powder 8's Ski Competition: Just outside of the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort boundary, extreme skiers test their speed, finesse, and team spirit in a unique ski competition on an open powder mountain side.
- Ski Jouring: A great mix of cowboy and skier, ski jouring is an event that involves a horse and rider pulling a skier to launch over jumps and snow features. Teams are scored on speed and skill.
- Cutter Races: Watch this wild event where two teams of horses race with their chariot and rider to the finish line.
Snowmobile Hill Climb World Championship
In late March, snowmobile racers start revving their engines at the base of Snow King Mountain in preparation for one of the most challenging events of the year. Watch from the base or ride the chairlift and watch from above as snowmobilers challenge themselves by trying to ride straight up the mountain.
Put on by the Jackson Hole Ski and Snowboard Club, Pole Pedal Paddle is a fun team event where participants take part in a relay race of skiing down Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, riding their bike along the bike path, followed by floating a section of the Snake River in the vessel of their choice.
To finish the winter season and closing of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, the Rendezvous Festival is a multi-day music festival that takes place right at the base of the resort.
