I don't know if it is the economy and people's return to more simple pleasures, but I've noticed a huge increase in people calling for info on renting RVs in the Yellowstone region. For your convenience, here is information on RV Rentals in the area:
- Jackson Hole RV Rentals
- Billings RV Rentals
- Bozeman RV Rentals
- Jackson Hole RV Parks
- West Yellowstone RV Parks
- Cody RV Parks
As you begin planning an RV Trip, keep in mind the costs that are not always included:
- Campgrounds are going to cost anywhere from $20 (very rare) to over $80/night.
- Gas.
- Insurance.
- Taxes.
Availability in the best campgrounds in and around Yellowstone is pretty limited as well. So, this being said, I will say that RV Camping is not ideal for many people. Assuming you can get availability in an RV and a campsite, an RV vacation for 5 days in the summer is going to run around $1750, and that is before the price of gas, taxes, insurance and mileage outside the mileage included in your rental.
An option that might work for you would be to explore a condo option as a basecamp for your adventure. A condo and car rental prices out less (and often times MUCH less) for 5 nights – but the elements you get to keep – staying together as a family and being able to avoid eating out for every meal – remain the same. You also get amenities like running water, more room to spread out, a convenient location to town and access to a pool.
